Max (Sebastien Grech) the best friend of transgender drag performer
Aria (Cassie Hamilton) and boyfriend of her other best friend, Jay (Zarif)
has been killed by a demonic cult, and when Cassie's attacked by a demon
(Brendan Cooney), wbo she can easily ward off and kill though due to her
sixth sense for demonic presence, she and Jay decide they have to
investigate and possibly avenge Max's murder. Thing is, on their way they
meet demon after demon to kill ... and also Nell (Lisa Fanto), whom they
have apparently been in school with (without any recollection of her), but
who's pretty handy when it comes to killing demons herself, and who pretty
much forces them to let her tag along - not that Aira needs too much
convincing as she has quickly fallen for Nell. Jay on the other hand
doesn't trust Nell, which is only partly due to his jealousy, but also
partly has to to with the fact that she's the daughter of Dr. Fenway
(Chris Asimos), who has given Aria a bad injection not long back. And of
course, Nell isn't really all she seems, and of course Dr. Fenway will
feature prominently in the story before long ... Sure, the
story of this movie is a bit silly, and it's also a bit inconsistent in
its mythology - but it's also so much fun to watch. For one that's because
the film doesn't take itself too seriously and instead carries its drag
show campiness (including several musical numbers) on its sleeve, where
even the violence becomes kind of a joke. But it's also carried by well
fleshed out characters that are given some really clever lines - and heck,
Cassie Hamilton's bubbly and self-centered performance alone is already
hilarious, and she's supported by a great ensemble cast - to turn this one
into a really fun horror comedy for sure.
