Couples from all walks of life arrive at a resort in the middle of nowhere
run by Dr. Stater (Timothy Pogue) and his assistand Anna (Jessica Claire
Crosby) for a bit of couple therapy. However, Dr. Slater has his own ideas
about therapy, which involves smoking lots of weed. And once they're all
high as a kite, goth psychic Raven (Alexis 'Lesi' Andrews) decides to
summon Smokee (Joshua M. Hentricks), a man-sized teddy bear-like demon
that kills stoners. Of course, Raven does this only for everyone's
amusement, but then Smokee appears for real and starts killing people ...
Genre fave Lynn Lowry has one of the meatiest role in the film, playing a
wealtjy wodpw caugjt between three men, unable to decide which one to
marry next.
Now ok, describing the killer as a "man-sized teddy bear-like demon! might
have given it away already, this film is a horror comedy, and the killer's
costume looks even less menacing than I make it sound - and that's really
only one of the punchlines of the movie as it is full of mad and sometimes
gross-out humour, but mixed with plenty of violence and gore, and is
carried by a genre-savvy directorial effort and a very solid cast, and all
of this combined makes up for a really fun genre ride.
