Evil landowner Onuma works Yasuke to death on his farm. Then he informs
his wife Sue and daughter Asa that they have to work for him as slaves for
ten years to pay off Yasuke's debts. When Sue starts to rebel, she is
whipped and dies a short time later from the injuries ...
Daughter Asa meanwhile has caught the eye of Onuma's son Takeo, who one
day sends her on an errand outside of his father's premises just so he can
catch her all alone, and he tries to rape her. When his attempt fails he
claims she has been trying to run away and has her severely punished.
However, the actions of the Unuma family don't go unpunished, as soon
enough, they are haunted by the ghosts of Yasuke and Sue, who can also
turn into a poisonous snake, and one after the other, Takeo, Onuma's
wicked wife Masae and Onuma himself are killed by the spirits they created
...
Well-directed and suitably gory, this film however fails to impress:
The film is just too straightforward, too in-your-face, too blunt, it's
only plot element being revenge from the grave, nothing more - which is
getting tiresome after not all that much time. That's not to say Snake
Woman's Curse is essentially a bad film, it just could have been
better with a subtler, more multi-faceted script.
