When contact to a scoutship from earth's runaway moon breaks off on a
planet covered in mist, Moonbase Alpha commander Koenig (MArtin Landau)
decides to get the ship back by remote control ... & aboard the ship,
the Alphans find ... a caveman.
To get his men back from the planet, Koenig decides to send 2 ships to
the planet, one with him, Alpha's chief physician Helen Russell (Barbara
Bain) & a few others to explore the planet on foot, while in another
ship crack pilot Alan (Nick Tate) & communications officer Sandra
(ZIenia Merton) are to circle the planet. Soon enough, the ground force
finds a region of especially thick mist & disappear therein, & all
communications break off.
Later, Alan & Sandra land on the planet too to do some exploring on
ground, but while he soon falls into some kind of trap, Sandra is abducted
... by cavemen, & soon enought their chieftain wants to make her his
concubine, much to the dismay of his huis wife. Furthermore, Sandra also
gets to wear some silly fur outfit ...
Eventually, Sandra manages to escape, & the chieftain, getting
after her, passes through the especially thick mist ...
Later, Alan, together with Alpha's scientist Victor (Barry Morse) &
pilot Kanno (Clifton Jones) find Koenig near the mist, unconscious but
alive.
Soon our Alphans figure that its the mist itself that turns humans
instantly into cavemen (cro magnon men to be exact), & if they drive
all the cavemen into the mist, they will turn to normal again ... &
wouldn't you know it, it works, when they come out of the mist as Alphans,
they even wear their uniforms (instead of silly furs) again.
An incredibly stupid story, even by Space 1999 standards,
results uin a very funny episode.
