After having taken way too much speed with his mate Mike (Nick Frost), Tim
(Simon Pegg) spends most part of the day playing Resident Evil (or a
similar ego-shooter involving zombies & guns) on his game consloe, only
listening to what anyone else says with half an ear, while Daisy (Jessica
Stevenson), his flatmate, has an interview for a job at a women's magazine ...
& makes a total ass out of herself ...
Enter next door neighbour artins Brian (Mark Heap), whose ex-boy- or
girlfriend Vulva (David Williams), an utterly mad conceptual artist, has
invitedhim to one of his performances ... & since rian is afraid to go to a
meeting with Vulva alone, he asks Tim & Daisy to come with him - to which
they agree because (& only because) there are free drinks at the after show
party.
The performance of course is pretentious shit, & the after show party is
little better, & of course, Vulva humiliates Grian in front of everyone ...
but then Tim has a druginduced flashback that takes him back to his videogame,
thinks everyone at the party except for Brian & Daisy are zombies (which
might not be too far from the truth), punches Vulva into the face, grabs Brian
& Daisy & runs off with them (thinking he is saving them) ...
However, back at the appartment, Brian realizes how right Tim was, &
that he should have punched Vulva into the face long ago.
On a less happy note, Daisy is turned down by the magazine she had the
job-interview with ...
Can a show involving zombies, a pretentious artist's pretentious performance
& drug flashbacks be allbd ? I think not, & this episode of Spaced
proves my point, combining all these elements to a funny stew, that is directed
with way more care than you'd come to expect from a typial sitcom.
