Over the phone, Daisy's (Jessica Stevenson) boyfriend Richard (James Lance)
breaks up with her, & her new flatmate Tim (Simon Pegg) is more interested
in letting Lara Croft drown in the Tomb Raider 3 video game (because of
trouble with his own ex, actually), she looks for another shoulder to cry on
& foolishly finds that shoulder in her landlady Marsha (Julia Deakin) ...
foolishly, because Marsha is supposed to believe that she & Tim qre a
couple - which was the pretense under which they got the appartment in the
first place. To save the situation, Daisy claims that they need to have a dog
to save their relationship - not knowing that Tim is afraid of dogs - &
Marsha agrees. Tim meanwhile goes to a paintball game with his
weapon-obsessed friend Mike (Nick Frost) to let of some steam in a
non-violent way - but when he meets Duane (Peter Serafinowicz), his ex's
new boyfriend, at thew game, the supposedly non-violent game soon gets violent
when Tim & Duane all of a sudden face each other, each determined to get
the other one - & suddenly Tim has to realize he's out of paint.
Fortunately thoguh Mike comes to the rescue, catches a shot meant for Tim,
& Tim, with Mike's weapons, aims for Duane's groin ... & while Duane
is driven off by an ambulance, Tim feels relieved for the first time in weeks
... One of the funniest episodes of the series, mainly because it -
despite being on the surface is about paintball & dogs, both of which is
not everybody's cup of tea - deals with frustrating situations just about
everybody had to go through once in a while in a very amusing way, while
directed carefully.enough to make the audience feel being taken seriously at
the same time.
