Tim's (Simon Pegg) ex Sarah tells him she has split up with her new boyfriend
... & she might want Tim back. Tim couldn't be happier even though
everybody tells him it's a bad idea, & especially his flatmate Daisy
(Jessica Stevenson) is devastated, fecause she would lose her flatmate (&
maybe he is more than just a flatmate if you know what I mean).
In the meantime, Tim's best mate & weapon freak Mike (Nick Frost)
undergoes reevaluation & is accepted back into the army where he was thrown
out of 3 years ago for stealing a tank & trying to invade Paris on his own,
& Tim & Daisy's next door neighbour, artist Brian (Mart Heap) finally
musters up enough courage to ask out Daisy's best friend Twist (Katy
Carmichael) - &which even seems to go fine.
But to make the happy ending of this episode (& the whole first season)
perfect, Tim finally reconsiders, & instead of moving back in with Sarah
(& again be subject to her abuse) he decides to break up with her for good
& stay with Daisy.
To be quite honest, the storytelling of this episode is less than perfect,
as there is no real evolution that leads to Tim's change of mind (it just
happens out of the blue [& off-screen] in the end), Mike's reevaluation is
rather sloppily told & seems to be there just to tie up a subplot, &
having three happy endings in just one episode running less than half an hour
is a bit much, on the other hand everything is funnily told & every effort
is made to take each of the happy endings its saccharine taste.
