Ever since the death of her mother 7 years ago, Lucidia (Alexa Davies)
has lived in a small town somewhere in Wales with her Finnish archeologist
father Gabriel (Antti Reini), and has over the years developed into a teen
girl with a vast imagination that includes aliens, black holes, unicorns
and angels. And somehow, this has reflected on her friends as well, so
when she one day vanishes from the face of the earth, everybody takes it
for granted that she has been abducted by aliens, and her friends make up
the most romantic - and quite psychedelic - stories about her
disappearance. It's her father who's more than a bit worried though, and
he has a hard time to find his way through this teen-universe his daughter
has (co-)created ... Spaceship is most certainly a film
like nothing else, it's less a narrative feature than a associative and
hallucinogenic maze of a story that might be a few steps removed from the
"real world" or realism as such, but that nevertheless manages
to make some strong points for those willing and able to dive into the
world created here - a world that atmospheric filmmaking coupled with
believable and relatable performances easily brings to life. Not for
everyone, but worth a watch for sure if you're in the mood for something
very different ...
