Instead of going to what looks like the party of the year,
twentysomething Kyle (Bj Gruber) sees himself forced to spend the evening
at the rather crowded local laundromat out of pure necessity - something
he doesn't enjoy very much, until in the crowd he spots lovely Sally
(Jackie McCarthy). And after clumsily attracting her attention, he tries
every trick in the book to chat her up - but unfortunately his appears to
be a not very good book, and his failure to notice she's not interested
make the situation even more awkward. Things go from not so good to
utterly embarrassing though when the zipper of his jacket gets stuck, and
every attempt to open it only makes things worse yet ... Timothy J. Cox
provides the running gag of this short as a man fighting a vending machine
- and losing, too. A laundromat-based comedy revolving around
the ever-popular concept "whatever can go wrong will go wrong",
something that seems to be a guarantee for at least a few laughs in itself
already - but clever writing that ties the bits and bobs of humour into
one narrative arc, a directorial effort as versed in dialogue as in
physical comedy, and a relatable, even likable cast, all make this one
pretty hilarious ride that will make you see your next stay at the
laundromat with a new set of eyes.
