Undercover high school girl cop Saki (Yoko Minamino) finds her mentor
Nishiwaki (Keizo Kanie) at her father's grave, and learns that not only
have he and her father been best friends, but he also knows who killed him
- it's just he won't tell Saki until he can defeat him in a fight, as
whoever her dad's killer was was a fighter at least as good as him. Saki
tries and fails - but before long she meets Ryuku, apparently a top
fighter herself, who teaches her a trick where she has to show
vulnerability to make her opponent let down his guardsm a trick that
doesn't only involved Saki's weaponized yo-yos but also a balloon filled
with water. Only when she fights and defeats Nishiwaki, she uses a balloon
handed to her by Ryuku - and Ryuku has filled that balloon with poison
which almost kills Nishiwaki. The story behind this is this, years ago
Nishiwaki was Saki's dad's bodyguard, Ryuku a hitman after Saki's father,
and the fight between Nishiwaki and Ryuku ended in a draw, and now Ryuku
is desparate to end what he has begun. Saki faces Ryuku to avenge
Nishiwaki, but despite her holding her own pretty well, she's ultimately
no match for the man - when Nishiwaki appears, shoots Saki to Ryuku's
shock, then shoots Ryuku dead. And Saki of course survives as Nishiwaki's
bullet was only aimed at her yo-yo she always carries. Of
course the plot of this one is a bit far-fetched and leaves several plot
points under-developed, several questions unanswered in the process - but
at the same time, what makes this episode is its very inventive fight
scenes, and the cynical ending alone when Nishiwaki shoots Saki in cold
blood just to catch Ryuku off guard really packs some punch.
