A haunted house. Three dead bodies. The police baffled. In his
desperation, George Morris (Kenneth G.Hodgson), the surviving
husband/father of those murdered, turns to spiritist Robert Brandon (Paul
McEwan) to exorcise the place. Brandon is no exorcist of course, but he
promises to be of assistance by summoning those murdered one by one. First,
it's son Stuart's (Chris Leach) turn, who tells a story about a seductive
ghost (Amie Morris), who first had sex with him, then murdered his mom
(Denise Cooke) and later his sister Tamsin (Laura
O'Donoughue). Stuart couldn't live without them even one
single day, so he killed himself to follow them into the next world. For
Morris that's a perfect story - after all, he always knew the place was
haunted, and in that respect, putting the blame on a ghost would be the
easiest, right? Only Brandon doesn't believe one word of it. After all,
ghosts do not have the ability to become physical and actually murder
someone. So he questions Tamsin and mom, and they shed a whole new and
much more horrific light on the story ...

First off, let me state the
obvious: Of course this film is reminiscent of Rashomon
in pure structure, it doesn't take a genius (or a movie buff) to see this.
But that doesn't keep Tied in Blood from quite simply telling an
interesting story of its own, a story full of unexpected twists and turns,
and one that doesn't shy away from digging beneath its own surface. Add to
this a very competent cast and a directorial effort that puts more than a
little emphasis on atmosphere - and you've got a pretty good movie.
