- Rich and Famous: Cannon Head (Mauro Canepa) explains to his
psychiatrist Elizabeth Metzger (Irina Peligrad) how much he longs for
her first and foremost with the words "I want possession of
you" ... thing is, she is more than able to ward him off, and
whatever might be between them is entirely in Cannon's head ...
- Sacrilege: Cannon, who has admittedly his problems with women
(or rather getting into their panties), talks it over with his mentor
Eddie Pause (Mark Carter), who tells him overweight girls are the
girls to go for.
- God's Country: It's not as if Eddie wasn't without his own
issues though, as is witnessed in his session with Elizabeth Metzger,
in which he details his ideas why Canada will eventually invade the
USA, and why he's actually God ...
Wrestling with Sanity is most certainly a film very different
from everything you've ever seen before. That's not to say that it has got
elaborate imagery, special effects or the like, quite the contrary, it's a
threesome of interlinked dialogue scenes, each of them being
character-heavy and carried by associative imagery (as in: the scenery and
costumes change drastically in the midst of the dialogue - and change
back) as well as compelling performances ... but most of all by really
strong and ironic dialogue that manages to create a weird parallel world
full of weird ideas and manages to suck the viewer into it.
Allegedly, this short is the basis for a feature playing out in this
parallel world, and I for one can't wait to see it ... so Mike Messier
better gets it made ;)
And if this has gotten you at all interested, you are more than welcome
to watch the short here:
