Sisters Liza (Maggie Wetzel) and Megan (Nicole Paige Chaffin) are
planning to visit their parents in Canada - but then they have a flat tire
in the snowy middle of nowhere, and with a snowstorm brewing, they just
head to the lone building in the whole area, a warehouse full of oddities
- where they meet Adam (Brian Dole), a young man in the same predicament
as themselves, who after a short altercation eventually wins their trust
... and they party the night away, and especially Megan really falls for
Adam, and while they don't have sex that night, it doesn't seem far off.
Liza's a bit more wary though - and the next morning she makes a few
investigations and eventually finds a tied-up guy (Will Keith) in the
trash container outside who claims to be Adam - but if he is, why is he
tied up ... and more importantly, who's the other Adam? Basically,
The Chrysalis is suspense filmmaking stripped to the bone - and
that's a good thing, too, as the film doesn't lose itself in subplots or
genre references but concentrates on the build-up suspense coming in hand
with character development, as well as tension and atmosphere, to really
strike hard in the finale and giving a jolt with a surprise ending (or
rather two or three).
