If you expect wild tales of witchery and magick here, you'll probably
be disappointed - and that really is this documentary's strength rather
than weakness, as it doesn't use spectacle but mere facts to make its
point. And that point is that most of the wilder tales about Wiccans are
... really just made up. Now this film presents four modern witches, and
while one might not share all their views and beliefs, and might even find
some of their rituals a little on the odd side, one nevertheless can't
shake the feeling that they seem like pretty normal, level-headed people,
far removed from the witches of folklore and fairy tales, and if one
shakes one's preconceptions, one might even feel what they say makes a lot
of sense - or at least as much sense as every other religion. And
that's really where this documentary succeeds so admirably, it doesn't go
for effect but simply shows an alternative normal. ... and if
