As was to be expected, hillbillies Bo (Bo Keister) and Cephus (Scott Geiter)
spend their day guzzling beer and watching horror DVDs, while making their unqualified comments on
the movies they are seeing as well as the chores their sexy cousin Lulu (Rachel Faulkner)
is doing in an assortment of ever sexier outfits. This time, the focus of
their discussion is the visit of North Korea's "supreme leader"
Kim Jong-un as part of an exchange program that Cephus has somehow
engineered, and cooking squirrels for him after his own recipe. The movies
our hillbillies are watching are:
- Strange Thing: A
couple discover a door to another dimension in their own apartment.
- 'Til Death: Four friends
want to get rid of their wives, not taking into account that action's
(supernatural) consequences.
- Foodie: A self-centered
restaurant owner is invited to a dinner party to find out he's not
part of the guestlist but part of the ...
- The Hourglass Figure: A stressed out mother finds a magic
hour glass that grants her one hour of alone-time every day ... but it
comes with a price
- The very short short Collision Course - about the last seven
days before earth collides with Jupiter, is presented as a bonus
feature.
If I say episode 4 of the Hillbilly Horror Show is just
more of the same, it's meant as nothing else than a heartfelt compliment -
it's another choice selection of contemporary indie horror shorts that
you'd probably quite simply not get a chance to see any other way and that
really show the spectrum of what indie cinema is able to achieve these
days, both in terms of quality and originality. Plus the framing segments
are presented in their usual likeable and totally tongue-in-cheek
political incorrectness by the series likeable trio of hosts who do their
job with their usual panache and the right sort of chemistry between them.
Really and totally worth a look!!!
