Marcy Frumpkin (Hilary Barraford) is a hitwoman, and not just any
hitwoman but she's at the top of her profession - ever since she found her
ex (Jeff Lorch) in bed with another woman (Hannah Amelia Jauregui), killed
them both and found out she enjoyed that more than anything else. But
being at the top of her profession allows her to employ her own moral code
- which includes killing no kids, pets or mental cases. So when her latest
job, one Norman Winter (Matthew Rocheleau) proves to be suicidal, she
chalks him up as a mental case and refuses to take his life which he was
to take anyways, instead talks him out of kiling himself - and before long
the two start dating ... Basically, The Hit is pretty
awesome fun, because while seemingly based on just one joke - a hitwoman
falling in love with her potential, suicidal hit -, it really develops a
story out of it that not only shows deep but also parodistic knowledge of
the genre, but that also affords its premise some depth. And thanks to a
cast in on the joke but playing it straight and a light-footed directorial
effort, the whole thing just works like a charm and is almost guarenteed
to at least make you chuckle.
