Kenny (Tristan Tales) has somehow mislaid the laptop of his music
producer friend and boss Calvin (Jonathan 'Lil J' McDaniel) with his
latest tracks on it, and he tracks the thing to a neighbourhood he has
never been to, and to a nice old lady (Elaine Partnow) who invites him
into her house ... It's later that night and Calvin, his girlfriend
Trinity (Olga Safari), and their friends, quarrelling couple Alexa
(Korrina Rico) and Matt (Lee Kholafai) and Alexa's addict sister Becca
(Caylee Cowan), get a bit worried about Kenny haven't returned, so they
track down his movements to the house of that nice old lady where her
plastic surgeon son Dr. Cunningham (James Allen Brewer) welcomes them in,
invites them to dinner - and drugs them. You see, Cunningham conducts
plastic surgery downstairs, in his opinion to make people "more
beautiful", but he apparently he is actually more into torturing his
"patients", and should he lose some of them during surgery, then
he won't waste a second thought about them. And to lure in his victims he
not only uses his mother but also his cute kid brother Timothy (Marik
Knight) while his big brother Phillip (John Wallbank) is an imposing
enough figure to make people stay. So one by one he works on Calvin and
company, and while they all try to get away one way or another, it's only
Alexa who succeeds by making friends with Timothy - but then she runs into
Marcia (Olivia Day), a friendly enough young woman who promises to take
her to the police - but instead delivers her to her brother, Dr.
Cunningham ... Now one thing up front, this is not a movie for
the faint of heart as it at times gets very visceral and frequently edges
terribly close to torture porn - and yet it's much more than just a gore
fest, as the film does take its time and effort to build up its
characters, does have many macabre spots, and aims for originality in the
narrative department. Plus it has all the suspense and shocks, and even
some nice plot twists in all the right places. Still of course you might
need a strong stomach to enjoy this, but given that this is a pretty solid
piece of horror.
