Eddie's (Ladi Emeruwa) a nighttime cabbie, and given he's a convicted
felon (even if he was tricked into the conviction), he's actually
reasonably happy with his job - if it wasn't for his troubles sleeping
during the day. So one night, when safely parked, he dozes off for a bit
in his cab - and when he wakes up, he to his shock finds the tied up and
brutally stabbed body of a woman (Samantha Speir) in front of his car. He
of course does the right thing and immediately calls the police, and that
should be that. Only ... he doesn't get the picture out of the dead girl
out of his mind, and it irks him more than a bit that he doesn't learn
anything about the police's progress on the case, and the story isn't even
picked up by the newspapers. So he takes up investigations himself,
especially since he can't exclude himself from the circle of suspects,
given his latest sleepwalking spells. An investigative reporter friend
(Amerjit Deu) supplies Eddie with some clues from police reports - that
actually suggest a prostitute serial killer - and the rest Eddie tries to
put together from making the rounds, passing through the red light
districts quite frequently. Only by doing so he enters a world he doesn't
understand, a world that holds its fair share of violence ... A
blend of character piece and murder mystery that works quite so well
because it keeps its hands close to its chest while at the same time
building up a pretty detailed world for its characters to inhabit. And
besides a clever script full of inventive twists and turns, a slick yet
subtle directorial effort and a strong ensemble cast also help making this
movie into a very cool genre watch.
