Peltzer (James Hamer-Morton) has never really taken control of his
life, has always let others make decisions for him, and let them treat him
as their human punching ball, and the only reason why he's with gorgeous
Deetz (Dani Thompson) is because she's after his money. And that said, she
treats him like utter shit, and he lets her. It's no better at his job,
where his boss Sawyer (Vito Trigo) bullies all his employees relentlessly,
up to the point where he drives one (Laurence R. Harvey) into suicide, and
he and Deetz don't even particularly try to hide having an affair - that
Peltzer chooses to look the other way only goes with his character then
... and then Peltzer has a sex accident and tears his banjo string, and
from there on he's visited by Ronnie (Damian Morter), his imaginary friend
from childhood. Now Ronnie is not exactly happy to see how Peltzer has
turned out and lets others use him, so he suggests to do something about
it - but at first, Peltzer is hesitant and instead even lets Deetz trick
him into marrying her, upon which she hands him the divorce paters almost
immediately and thinks she has gotten the better of him finally - but
Ronnie's very insistant on Peltzer taking his life into his own hands -
and Ronnie isn't very particular about the legality of the ways this is
achieved ... My Bloody Banjo is quite simply a pretty
mad movie that combines an over-the-top story with gross-out humour and
quite a few bloody bits - and thanks to a well-structured and fun story
and a directorial effort that knows when to hold back and when to let
loose, and the comicbookish characters and situations the film is made up
from fit the story just fine. And add to that a great cast, and you'll end
up with something - that admittedly won't be to everyone's taste, but if
you're into partymovie kind of entertainment, then you pretty much have to
watch this one!
