Scottie (David Sackal) considers himself cursed - cursed with good luck
that is. This becomes especially apparent in his job, a job he doesn't
even care for and hardly ever lifts a finger at - and yet he's made the
youngest boardmember (by far) of the company. And when he bolts instead of
accepting his promotion, his boss (Bradley Rhodes) considers even that as
a stroke of genius. Eventually, Scottie figures he has to be punished
for his good luck and visits a BDSM club. But his dominatrix (Joanna
Donofrio), a slightly insecure single mother not cut out for whipping men,
ends up helping him in rather unexpected ways. Above all else, Please
Punish Me is a sweet little movie, but not of the saccharine-sweet
sort that makes one want to turn off a few seconds in for too much
feel-good aroma. Instead, Please Punish Me is edgy at times, not
always 100% politically correct and even darkly humourous - and it's
carried by a subtle directorial effort and solid performances throughout
to make this into a rather great little film!
