Live Or Die is a new live-streamed reality show on the dark web
where 5 contestants, locked up in their rooms, are questioned about
the most horrible thing they've done, and are threatened with death should
they deviate from the truth. The five contestants are actress Leilah
(Brooke Lewis Bellas), hitman Alex (David Alpay), senator Larkin (Susan
Lanier), Father Bishop (Ricky Dean Logan) and businessman and
philanthropist Ethan (Noah Blake), who all have their own secrets, which
range from child molestation to serial rape to crucifiction to killing
one's mistress to poisoning a city's water supply for profit, with
adultery and blackmail and similar things only side orders to the main
crimes. In other words, crimes you wouldn't admit to even when threatened.
But that said, there's an evil twist to the show ... Done
during the time of Covid lockdowns, this webseries really makes the most
out of its limitations, building a piece of psychological horror entirely
around people talking - but talking to save their lives, even if they're
unaware that they're just painting themselves into corners. And besides
almost hauntingly realistic performances, what really makes this movie is
the well-conceived dialogue that makes even the wilest of characters in
the film creepily relatable and provides the film's finale with real
punch, and makes this film despite all its limitations really chilling
genre entertainment.
