Of course that weighs heavily on her relationship with Jesse (Johnny Kostrey), an orderly at a nursing home, so much so that she breaks up with him, on the very night he planned to propose to her. This shatters him, and it doesn't get any better when later, at work, he's attacked by one of the nursing home's inmates (Kris Ann Russell). He comes out of this unscathed, but something inside him has changed, and later attacks his roommate Aaron (Johnny Uhorchuk) and Aaron's girlfriend Nora (Sara Young Chandler) without any rhyme or reason, then just runs off. Aaron goes after him out of concern, but Jesse gives him the slip. And when he remains elusive, Aaron and Madison organize search parties, hang up missing posters and the like. Then Jesse out of the blue returns to work, even if in a totally dishevelled state - and that he returns is not a good thing, as apparently the nursing home has been ground zero for some virus that turns the infected into violent versions of hemselves, as if possessed - and with Jesse's help, this virus has since spread all over town, too ...<p>Horror veteran Eileen Dietz plays the inmate of the nursing home who might actually be patient zero. <p> <p>A pretty cool piece of horror that's focused on relatable characters with actual arcs inside a well-structured while the direction puts an emphasis on creating an atmosphere of unease and puts atmosphere over spectacle. And the finale alone that goes the body horror route and scores high points on the grotesque scale is worth the watch for its own sake already.
