Solomon (Sean Weathers) has really fallen prey to his own addictions
(he's pretty much addicted to everything mind you), as he tries to trick
pretty much everybody out of their money, using various scams that are at
times so far-fetched they have to come from a drug-addled brain. At times
he even stoops so low as to try to snatch ladies' handbags. But one can't
deny he has some kind of persuasion and charm, otherwise he wouldn't be
banging some really great babes. Anyways, his desperate situation -
drugs have eaten up all of his funds - lead to him living with his
bible-thumping brother Tyler (Waliek Crandall), whose views go against
Solomon's whole way of life ... but Tyler wants to save Solomon from his
life full of drugs, and Solomon, however addled his brain might be,
figures it's a good idea to play along ... especially since Tyler's wife
Tamia (Sybelle Silverphoenix) has taken quite a liking in Solomon, and
since her husband is more than a little strict with her regarding
everything, she's more than happy to live her wilder side with others for
a little ... and in fact is a little to happy to believe Solomon is an
undercover agent for the gouvernment, and he's only shooting her up with
heroin to not endanger his investigations. Such a combination can only
lead to chaos ... and it does ... Scumbag Hustler is
above everything else great fun: Sure, as an actor Sean Weathers might ham
it up a little, but somehow this makes sense in the film's context, and
sure, not everybody will admit to liking the explicitness of some of the
sex scenes, and sure, this was very obviously made guerilla-style - but
all of this just makes up the charm of this movie, it's something really
honest - but that said, it's well-made, well-filmed and well-acted as
well, so don't be mistaken about that. And the score of well-known but
well-integrated classical numbers does show some real vision. In all,
most certainly a low budget movie, but one that's really entertaining -
oh, and apart from everything else, no matter what you think about the movie
as a whole, you have to stick around until the ending, which is just a
hoot!!!
