Austin (Dave Coyne) is a ghost hunter on the verge of his big break ...
only he doesn't really believe in ghosts at all but comes across authentic
on camera impersonating a paranormal investigator, and he has his camera
people Jesse (Tonya Kay) and Bruce (John C. Bailey) and his girlfriend
Lucy (Erin Cline), his co-host, make the scenery properly spooky to give
him the right aura. But he does think he's onto his big break, as the next
time, he and crew and medium Megan (Shanna Forrestall) are to spend a
couple of nights in an "actual" haunted house for a TV pilot
that, should things go right, will push them all to instant stardom. Thing
is, the "haunted" house turns out to be more than just
"urban legend" style haunted, and while our gang leave after the
first night with footage great beyond their wildest dreams, on the second
night, the haunting returns to collect - in droves ... A rather
effective haunted house movie that might be based on a by now over-used
premise (fake ghosthunters facing real ghosts), but by putting more focus
than usual on its well fleshed out characters gives the film an extra
level of depth, and well-set shocks, atmospheric filmmaking, and even bits
of comedy make this a rather cool genre piece - and the ultimate punchline
of the whole thing really catches one by surprise, but pleasantly so. Totally
worth a look!
