Your new movie Into
the Gravel Pit - in a few words, what's it about?
Three friends get together to celebrate one last time together and try an
experimental drug that drives them crazy. Simultaneously a family losing
their daughter's fight against cancer crosses paths with one of the three
friends and everything goes wrong. How
did you get involved with the project in the first place, and what made
you want to produce it? The
original development of the team involved someone else who was reaching
out to me to tell her how to produce. She really had no experience in the
film world. She backed out and I was intrigued, read the treatment, and
loved it. Met director and came on board. What were the challenges of
bringing Into the
Gravel Pit to the screen from a producer's point of view? Challenges... the sheer spectrum of the work required, as we were
under a budget. I wanted to make the director soar, and wanted great
talent involved. One set was a misunderstanding and we almost lost it, but
thanks to director Colin Bressler [Colin
Bressler interview - click here], it worked out. One of the first scenes, we had to replace
an actor and got lucky enough to find Mikael Dawkins! What
can you tell us about Into
the Gravel Pit's director Colin Bressler, and what was your
collaboration like? Colin is a hugely talented director and
cinematographer! Very seasoned in his craft. We got along rather well, and
even faced with moments of intense stress, we worked through them! We
shared the same vision for the film. This is always great as it creates
unity and a shared vision.

Do talk about Into
the Gravel Pit's cast, and how deeply were you involved in the
casting process? I was the primary
casting person after Colin selected Rylie Rodriguez and Samantha Makley.
It was absolutely delightful coordinating for Paul T. Taylor and Lisa
Wilcox. A few words about the shoot as such,
and the on-set atmosphere? Hot! It was super hot
the days we were at the junkyard. We truly enjoyed working with each other
and since our planning process was so fluid, it went very smoothly with a
light-hearted atmosphere. The $64-question of course,
where can Into the
Gravel Pit be seen? It's currently in distribution with a release of March
14th. We are angling for many platforms; Fandango at Home, Amazon,
Spectrum, Cox, Xfinity, for example, plus hoping for Tubi,
Pluto, Mansa, etc.
Anything you can tell us about audience and critical reception of Into
the Gravel Pit? This film is not for everyone; but for those who love
plottwists and horror, psychological thrillers, this is a true fit! Any future projects you'd like
to share? Keeping that under wraps but Colin
and I may collaborate again. What got you into producing in the first
place, and did you receive any formal training on the subject? My parents
were photographers. I grew up in an artistic world, and was trained at an
early age how to see through the lens. After 22 years active duty Army, I
chose to follow my filmmaking dream post retirement. Started out as a background actor, and worked my way up over 12 years to producer! What
can you tell us about your filmwork prior to Into
the Gravel Pit? I produced a few
short films, and worked as production coordinator on features such as
Divorce Party and 521 North Main Street. I LOVE planning, and working out
kinks in the planning process. It suits me to be in this industry
How would you describe yourself as a producer, and how hands-on or hands-off do you consider yourself as
one? I'm 100% hands-on in that I believe a
producer needs to contribute real work, be on set as much as possible,
helping in all aspects of the process. I planned so much, from props to
crafty to BTS footage, to casting and just being present. I don't believe
you can call yourself a producer otherwise. Producers, filmmakers, whoever else who inspire
you? First and foremost, my parents. Then, believe it or
not, the military. My skillsets were highly developed by both entities.
Then there are my kiddos. They are incredibly supportive, especially
Justin, who backs me on everything. A serene soul. As for people in the
industry, I'll say Colin himself. He's a great filmmaker that actually
gets things accomplished. It's people like him you want to work with. Your favourite movies?

Horror related: It - WOW! That film had me terrified at times. Otherwise, my favorite has always been Forrest
Gump, lol. ... and of course, films you really deplore? That's a hard
one. Your/your movie's website, social media, whatever else? We're on IMDb, YouTube, Facebook, and our website is
