Your new movie The Getback - in a few words, what is it about?

This is a sort of a bounty hunter having to bring back a guy, and it turns out the cops involved are crooked. It’s a buddy, buddy action with some heart with a fun story.

How did the project fall together in the first place?

Tubi liked the script and it came together with the producers, who have a relationship with Tubi.

What can you tell us about The Getback's writers Chad Law and Garry Charles, and what was your collaboration like?

Great writers. Chad is a writing machine. Always a good time if Chad’s name is on the title page.

Of your films two protagonists Cooper and Gordon, who could you actually identify with more, and why?

They both have relatable qualities. That’s due to the great writing, and the actors did great. I can relate to both characters.

The Getback features its fair share of action sequences - so do talk about the stuntwork in your movie for a bit!

It was a lot in a short amount of time. Chris Wilks really did great as the stunt coordinator. We did some cool stuff like flipping a car.

A few words about your overall directorial approach to your story at hand?

I always approach it from the script level. Study the script more than anything and the shots, the blocking, that all comes easily once you really understand the story.

What can you tell us about The Getback's cast, and why exactly these people?

Casting was handled by the producers. The actors all did fantastic.

A few words about the shoot as such, and the on-set atmosphere?

It certainly had its challenges and I definitely learned a lot of valuable lessons. The morale was pretty good for the most part. Some days were of course better than others.

The $64-question of course, where can The Getback be seen?

It premiered on Tubi, but now it’s going to be available on other platforms, and then I think it will be back on Tubi.

Anything you can tell us about audience and critical reception of The Getback yet?

People really like it! It’s doing really great. I’m very pleased that the audience and critics have been kind and have enjoyed The Getback.

Any future projects you'd like to share?

I’ve got a couple things coming out soon, and a few more lined up. Marching forward! Also, please check out my book 50 Movies Made: Lessons Learned on a Filmmaker's Journey. My story and advice and lessons, are all in those pages, available on Amazon!
