Your upcoming movie Alone We Are Not - in a few words, what
is it about?
Alone We Are Not is a very intense horror feature film, surrounding the
life of a war veteran returning home to his pregnant wife. While they try
to mend their relationship, other "beings" haunt and terrorize
them. They are not alone. With Alone We Are Not being a home
invasion film, is that a genre you're at all fond of, and some of your
genre favourites? Some of my favourite genres would have to
include terror films, home invasion, and anything that puts you on the
edge of your seat. Each genre brings something new and exciting to the
script. (Other) sources of inspiration when
writing Alone We Are Not? The film Signs
was a big inspiration to me while writing Alone We Are Not. I
loved the creepy feeling I got from the aliens, as well as the terror and
suspenseful scares that it portrayed. Another movie that inspired me was The Strangers. It is such a simple concept with a big impact.
I brought those two ideas together while creating my own script. Do talk about your
movie's approach to horror for a bit (as in suspense vs sudden shocks,
atmosphere vs all-out gore and the like)! Alone We Are
Not is a variation of many horror genres combined. I can guarantee
there will be blood, which will make you cringe. It is also extremely
suspenseful as well. What can you
tell us about your movie's intended overall look and feel?
Steve Baran |
This
movie is intended to make you question what really is out there, and what
other "beings" will terrorize you, and your subconscious.
Anything
you can tell us about Alone We Are Not's key cast yet, and why
exactly these people? We are thrilled to have such an
amazing cast and crew on this production. Everyone on this project is
passionate, driven and motivated to work as a team to bring out the best
film possible.
Our lead, Steve Baran, is a well known Vancouver actor, whose talents
bring this story to life.
As far as I know, Alone We Are
Not is still in pre-production as we speak - so what's the schedule? Yes!
We are going to condensing the shoot into a couple of weekends. It's going
to be intense, but a lot of fun. I
know it's probably waaay too early to ask, but any idea when Alone We
are Not might be released onto the general public yet? Filming
will be done by the end of March, so we are shooting for the film to be
complete in May! But stay tuned by following our Facebook page
"Alone We Are Not" for updates. As
far as I know, another movie of yours, 3 Hours till Dead, will be
released later in 2016. A few words about that one? 3 Hours
Till Dead is a zombie horror feature that surrounds a group of
friends returning from a camping trip to find out the end of the world is
here. Will they survive?
These zombies (passers) aren't your average zombies. They have an expiry
date. It's a very unique concept, but you will have to watch it to find
out!
Any
future projects beyond Alone We Are Not you'd like to share?
We
are constantly coming up with new projects everyday, but a couple projects
we are going to be diving into after Alone We Are Not are Changing of Rebecca Jones, which is the sequel to
Changing of Ben Moorem and also, we are going to be bringing out
3 Hours till Dead Chapter 2.
We also have Hammergirl and Roadkill, which are
base ideas right now, but will be on the table soon! Your/your

Anything else
you're dying to mention and I have merely forgotten to ask? We
would like to thank everyone for supporting and choosing independent
films. Indies need the love and local community is important.
I would also like to do a shoutout to one of my biggest supporters, my
mom, Kim Mills. She has always believed in me and encouraged me to follow
my dreams. Without her support, I wouldn't be where I am today. Thanks to
the fans for reading! Thanks
for the interview!
