Your upcoming film Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution - in a few words, what's it going to be about?

Revenge. Redemption. Renewal. A money-hungry mercenary, the daughters of a corrupt sheriff and the son of Cutter's Creek most notorious resident must confront the town's horrifying history as well as the axe-wielding local legend it created.

How clocely will Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolutionbe related to the first two Axeman-movies, and when you started out with the first movie, did you already have a trilogy in mind? And how has the titular character and his world he exists in evolved over time?

Before I answer that question, let me say this: I wrote Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution in such a way that if you've never seen the previous two films - it's okay, you don't have to. You'll get all of the information you need as the story progresses. But if you HAVE seen the previous two films, this one picks up right where they ended, stands the story on its head and knocks you out of your chair like a shotgun blast! Axeman At Cutter's Creek was always been intended to be an 80s throwback horror trilogy and while it's taken a little while to complete, this one is well worth the wait! In the original film, the Axeman was more sadistic and stalking. Then in the second film, we took a hard left turn and he became this hate-filled powerhouse. For this film, we course-corrected and found the right balance - brought him back to being the sadistic stalker the fans originally loved but he goes waaaaay darker. The things he does to the human body with his bare hands will give you nightmares. And he has to "go there" because of what this town has taken from him, and what there is still left to lose.Because, the one thing I always wanted to do with the Axeman's final film was have him meet his match - someone as cunning, ruthless, sadistic and determined - to stand between him and what's at stake. And he meets that character in Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution.

With Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution being a slasher movie, is that a genre at all dear to you, and some of your genre favourties?

Yes, the slasher genre is certainly my favorite!  Naming favorites right off the top of my head? Evil Dead Trap, Hell High, Prom Night, Maniac, Scream... the list could go on forever, haha.

(Other) sources of inspiration when writing Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution?

While Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution was significantly inspired by 80s horror films and, to some extent, 90s horror - believe it or not - Buffy The Vampire Slaye" was a major source of inspiration as well. Joss Whedon had a knack for creating villains that were physical manifestations and/or representations of either a character's flaw or some other such internal challenge/struggle the protagonist was facing. As I delved deeper into the story and character arcs for Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution, I fully leaned into that Whedon-esque storytelling device.

Do talk about Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution's approach to horror!

Go dark. Go hard. Or go home. Simple as that. To bring this series to a conclusion, we have to go places we haven't been before - me, the actors and the technical crew. Whereas the first two films journeyed into darkness and evil, this one will be birthed in it.

What can you tell us about Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution's intended look and feel?

Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution will be shot in the dark, dread-filled style of The Evil Dead (2013), The Descent and 30 Days of Night, but with the epic levels of graphic gore from films like Terrifier 3 and High Tension. We're really looking to amp up the violence and gore to a crescendo of carnarge!

Anything you can tell us about Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution's cast yet, and why exactly these people?

Literally, everyone in the cast was chosen for two reasons: they are extremely talented and are game for EVERYTHING the film demands of them. It will really put them through the paces. Michael Wayne Foster is taking over duties of the titular character, Bill "The Axeman" Talbert. He's joined by Brittney Kade [Brittney Kade interview - click here], Nicole Alexander, Mindy Robinson [Mindy Robinson interview - click here], Hannah Hueston [Hannah Hueston interview - click here], Morgan Bussler, Claude Duhamel, Payton Hubert, Sam Aotaki, Veronica Lavery and Christopher Crabb.

As far as I know, you're presently running a fundraiser for Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution - so do talk about your campaign for a bit!

The only way to properly fund Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution and shoot the film we want (and the audience deserves) was to run a crowdfunding campaign. Despite the fact that fans love the first two installments, they were woefully underfunded. So the best chance we have to fully realize the film is IndiegGoGo and here were are :) We have some awesome rewards for contributing too! Autographed memorabilia, roles in the film, tickets to the red carpet premiere and much, much more. So hop on over and support the film - it only happens with your help: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/axeman-at-cutter-s-creek-absolution-horror-film/x/37414528#/

Once the budget's raised, what's the schedule? And any idea when and where Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution might be released yet?

Well, preproduction has already started. The DP and I have already begun developing the look and style of the film, with an eye on July 21st as the first day of principal photography. We have a very aggressive schedule to make the first quarter 2026 premiere and limited theatrical engagement.

Will there ever be another Axeman-movie after this one? And/or any other future projects beyond Axemen at Cutter's Creek 3: Absolution you'd like to talk about?

You know, ever since the first film was released fans have told me the Cutter's Creek backstory would make for a thrilling film. If this one does as expected, I'd love to do a prequel series and see the original horrors unfold in real-time. Show the diabolical events that spurred the tri-city massacre.
