Your new movie Don't
Make a Sound - in a few words, what's it about, and what can you
tell us about your character in it?
Don't
Make a Sound is about this creepy killer who films his victims
and hunts people in the woods. My character, Grace, is this 10-year-old
girl who’s still really sad because her mom died from cancer. She has
a hard time getting along with her older sister, Billie, and they
don’t really understand each other. When their car breaks down in the
woods, they end up being chased by the killer, and Grace has to deal
with all this scary stuff while also trying to figure out how to connect
with Billie. What did you draw
upon to bring your character to life, and how much Junie Liv Thomasson can
we find in Grace? I don’t think there’s a lot of Grace in me, honestly.
She’s, like, super sad and traumatized, and I’m not really like
that. I mean, I’ve never been through the stuff she has, like losing
her mom and having all that drama with her sister. Grace is just really
different from me, she’s quiet and broken, and I’m not like that.
It’s kinda hard to relate to her, but I guess that’s what makes playing her interesting
How did you get involved with the project in the first place, what made you want to do it? I was offered the role, and I wasn’t really super excited about
the role at first because I had just done something really similar
before. But since my friend was in it, I decided to go for it anyway J In
Don't Make a Sound,
you are involved in a few quite gruesome scenes - so was this at all a
problem for you? No, it wasn’t a problem for me at all because I watch a ton of
horror movies, and I know it’s all fake. I do think being covered in
blood is super gross, though. Like, it’s disgusting! What can you tell us about Don't
Make a Sound's director Jt Kris, and what was your collaboration
like? He’s my dad, so obviously we get along really well, haha! It’s
super comfortable working with him, and he always knows when I need a
break during filming. It’s like he can just tell, which makes
everything way easier. Back to Don't
Make a Sound: The film was mostly filmed in the woods - so what
was it like filming there, and do you at all consider yourself an
outdoorsy kind of girl?
No, I wouldn’t call myself an outdoorsy kind of person. I’d
much rather stay inside and watch movies. Filming in the woods can be
pretty tough because there are so many insects, and when I’m running,
I always end up tripping over sticks or getting scratched by branches.
It’s kind of a mess, haha! A few words about the shoot as
such, and the on-set atmosphere? It was really fun because my friend, who played Hayley, was there
for a lot of the scenes, not all of them, but enough to make it a good
time. The atmosphere on set was super chill and jokey, so it never felt
too serious. It made everything way more enjoyable! Any future projects
you'd like to share? I’ve got The Arkansas Pigman Massacre coming out this year, and
I’m super excited because it features Eric Roberts! I’m also in a
short film for the Amityverse anthology, hopefully coming out later this
year. Being not exactlly long in the
tooth now, you started acting at a pretty early age - so how did that
happen, and what made you want to act in the first place?

I think I was, like, 5 when I went to my first audition for a TV
show, and I actually really liked it. I did some commercials too, which
was super fun. My parents always asked me if I wanted to do them, and
then I got to decide if I was into it or not. Can
you still remember your first time in front of a camera, and how did that
feel? I think I was too little to remember much about the first time.
Honestly, I can’t even think back to it or remember the camera being
there. But I do remember doing a commercial when I was, like, 6, and I
made a friend during the shoot. That part was pretty fun! What can you tell us about your filmwork prior to Don't
Make a Sound? When I was 6, I did my first horror movie. It wasn’t, like, the
best movie ever, but I remember being in the woods at night with this
really nice actor, which made it fun. I also did Ghosts of Amityville,
which was supposed to be a short film. I’ve been in some other stuff
too, like I Think We’re Alone Now, Ouija Clown and Alien
Goddess, plus some TV shows. It’s been really cool and fun to do all
of it! Actresses (and indeed actors) you look up to?

I really look up to Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham from
Gilmore Girls, they’re amazing. I also admire Evan Peters because he’s such
a great actor. Timothy Chalamet is another one; I’m totally rooting
for him to win an Oscar this year. And, of course, Kirsten Dunst, she’s
just awesome. Your favourite movies?
Oh my gosh, that’s a great question!
Dead Poets Society, Call Me by Your Name, Fight Club and The Basketball Diaries are all
amazing. I also love The Virgin Suicides, The Perks of Being a
Wallflower, Lovely Bones, Mysterious Skin and Beautiful
Boy. They’re all such incredible movies! ...
and of course, films you really deplore? Wicked is definitely one of them! Your website,
social media, whatever else?

Anything else you're dying
to mention and I have merely forgotten to ask?
My dream role would be, like, someone super smart and relatable, kind of
like Rory from Gilmore Girls. I love how her character is so real and
the show is funny but also has, like, so much heart. I’d totally want
to play someone like her. Thanks
for the interview!
