Your new movie Nigel
- in a few words, what's it about?
Romantic comedy about a young man trying to find love.
What did you draw upon to bring your character to life, and how much Kirsty Love Mcluskey can we
find in Kylie? I used my wrestling character, but I added a
bit of cheese to her to make her a bit more funny. How did you get involved with the
project in the first place, what drew you to it? I received
a message from the director about the project because I was recommended to
him by M0wrestling podcast Liam. I thought it sounded like a lot of fun so
I went for it. To
what extent could you identify with Nigel's approach to humour?
I find it relatable. It's my kind of humour.
What can you tell us about
Nigel's director Paul
Sutton [Paul Sutton interview -
click here], and what was your collaboration like?
Paul is great to work with. He makes the environment very welcoming. He
gives direction but is also happy to hear/see ideas or approaches to
scenes. I would 100 % work with him again.
Do talk about the shoot as such, and the on-set atmosphere!
The atmosphere was fantastic, it felt like pals who haven't seen each other in
years, you wouldn't believe this was the first time we met.
Any future projects you'd like to share?
Not at the moment but you never know, so all I can say is watch this space.
Your main claim to fame is being a wrestler - so what can you tell
us about that aspect of your career, and in what way doi you feel it has
informed your acting?
Mainly going into different characters and do the fighting scenes, which
is a lot of fun. What made you try your hand on acting eventually, and did you receive
any formal training on the subject?
When I was asked about the role I thought why not, it's similar to wrestling
and a lot less painful haha, and I am glad I did. What can you
tell us about your filmwork prior to
Nigel? There's
not much there really, I played a gang member in a punk girl gang that
battered the star of the film. How would you describe yourself as an actor, and some of your
techniques to bring your characters to life?
I've only played two characters and they were both based on my wrestling
character, so violent, angry and surprisingly outgoing, haha!
Actors (and indeed actresses) who inspire you? Michelle
Rodriguez because she is just a bad ass bitch and I love it.
Your favourite movies? Jaws - I love creature
features! ... and of course, films you
really deplore?
I can't really think of any films/ genres I
dislike, I'd say the Paul WS Anderson
Resident Evil films because they could have
been great but didn't utilise the source material, and some day I really
hope someone makes a good Resident Evil movie.
