Your new movie B.C. Butcher - in a few words, what is it about, and what can you tell us about your character in it?

B.C. Butcher is about a group of cavewoman being hunted by a vengeful creature of the wilderness! Poppy is the young, naive, and (not-so) innocent member of the group who has a secret or two of her own to keep!

What did you draw upon to bring your character to life?

Poppy is blinded by love, and I've definitely been in that situation before. I've also played similar characters to her before, so it was fun to relive that!

What was it even like to run around the woods in campy costumes like yours?

My feet definitely had to get used to it! I would always have shoes to wear right off camera. But it was mostly filmed in Kansas's dad's backyard so everyone that saw us understood why we were in costume.

How did you get hooked up with the project in the first place, and to what extent can you identify with the prehistoric and the slasher genre?

I actually wasn't able to make it to my audition because of school, but Kansas liked my headshots and wanted me as a part of the project! I don't necessarily know much about the prehistoric genre of entertainment outside The Flintstones, but I LOVE horror movies so slasher was right up my alley.

What can you tell us about your director Kansas Bowling [Kansas Bowling interview - click here], and what was your collaboration like?

Kansas is amazing! She's mature well beyond her years and I can see her really doing well in the industry. Even though she's a few years younger than me (and shorter), I feel like I look up to her! There was never any issue with the age thing, either, the cast and crew were very professional about that.

Do talk about the shoot as such, and the on-set atmosphere!

It was a lot of fun! We all joked around a lot and really became friends. There was never a dull moment!

Any future projects you'd like to share?

I'm currently working on some online content, but I can't say much yet.

What got you into acting in the first place, and did you receive any formal training on the subject?

I've been into acting since I was 5 and took my first drama class. I've taken a lot of acting classes, and even went to a performing arts high school where I "majored" in theater. Currently I'm working with an acting coach and am going to be taking improv classes soon.

What can you tell us about your filmwork prior to B.C. Butcher?

I've been in a few films, the most notable of which was A Serious Man by the Coen Brothers.

How would you describe yourself as an actress, and some of your techniques to bring your characters to life?

I definitely like to really understand the character, and try to really become them. I do a lot of background work about my character's life and the reasons they are the way they are. I also give myself intentions for each line so there's a reason I'm saying everything I'm saying. I could probably write a book on everything I do to prepare for a role!

Actresses (and indeed actors) who inspire you?

Jennifer Lawrence, Jim Parsons, Hugh Laurie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zooey Deschanel, Charlie Day. Also acting isn't what he's known for but David Bowie

Your favourite movies?

Spirited Away, Pan's Labyrinth, Finding Nemo, Labyrinth.

... and of course, films you really deplore?
