Your new movie Camo vs. Genevieve - in a few words, what is it about?

I’m just going to give you the plot outline from the IMDb page, after Genevieve kills Ted Morris, she is greeted by an old foe named Camo, and he is out for revenge.

What were your sources of inspiration when writing Camo vs. Genevieve?

I would say that my two main sources of inspiration for this short film would be Freddy vs. Jason and Godzilla vs. Kong.

In the larger scheme of all things Genevieve, where does this movie fit in, and what can you tell us about the evolution of your killer doll over the years?

This film takes place directly after the story from Two Twisted Tales, she just killed Ted Morris, and it is actually Ted Morris’ blood that she’s covered in in this film.

Do talk about the creation of Camo for a bit, both in terms of character and costume!

Camo (like Genevieve) originated in my second feature film, Urban Fears, and the character was meant to embody all of the classic non-speaking slashers from the ’80s. His mask was made by Bedlam FX, and I wanted it to represent the mask of Jason Voorhees and the coveralls were a tribute to Michael Myers, so I basically took my main inspiration for the character from those two. He’s meant to be like if Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees had a camouflage baby I guess.

What can you tell us about Camo vs. Genevieve's approach to horror?

We weren’t too focused on the horror this time around, we just wanted to embrace the silliness and go balls to the wall crazy and fun with this one I would say.

A few words about your overall directorial approach to your story at hand?

I basically wanted this short to embody the spirit of Urban Fears as much as possible, but at the same time I wanted it to feel a little different and I guess a little more professional because I’ve grown a lot as a filmmaker since then.

You also appear in front of the camera as Camo - so do talk about your performance for a bit, and how much fun was it playing him?

It was a blast stepping into that role again, I love the idea of going back and reimagining some of the characters that I’ve created a few years ago. The performance was basically the same as the last time I played the character, when I put the costume on it all came back to me.

What can you tell us about the shoot as such, and the on-set atmosphere?

The shoot was a breeze, we shot the whole film in basically one day, and it was just a very fun environment, just me and my girlfriend having fun and trying new things with the camera, it was a great time.

The $64-question of course, where can Camo vs. Genevieve be seen?

It will be available exclusively on my YouTube channel (NMJ Films) on 05/01/2021!

Anything you can tell us about audience and critical reception of Camo vs. Genevieve?

So far it seems to be very positive, I think people have been getting a kick out of seeing these two fight it out on screen.

Any future projects you'd like to share?

I’m honestly not quite sure what’s next at the moment, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something interesting to do next.

Your/your movie's website, social media, whatever else?

My website is nmjfilms.com, you can find all of my social media links and everything on there.

Anything else you're dying to mention and I have merely forgotten to ask?

Hmm, not at the moment, no.

Thanks for the interview!
