Your new movie The Insurrection - in a few words, what is it about?

It’s about a CEO from large telecom company who exposes her company's secrets as to why and how they use movies as tools of indoctrinating the public into left wing political propaganda. She hires an ex-commando to protect her long enough to get her message out.

With The Insurrection being about a global conspiracy - to what extent have you based your movie on actual conspiracy theories, and have you done much research on the subject?

I don’t know about political conspiracies or pharmaceutical, or agricultural conspiracies, but have been in the movie business for many years. I’m an expert and a full time professional film maker. Sadly that means I have to deal with Hollywood producers, distributors, and more. I know the secrets of this business. The things that are done, the things I expose in this movie will seem like far fetch conspiracies to the uninitiated.

To what exent can you personally identify with the socio-political messages your female lead tries to transmit to the world?

I agree with everything she says. In effect, that character is an avatar for myself. The movie is dramatized to be more action intense, but the conversations from the lead actresses' side are absolutely my point of view.

You of course also have to talk about the action scenes in The Insurrection for a bit, and how were they achieved?

Well, Michael Paré is just a kick ass kinda guy. It was my job to try to keep up with him. I also have a local militia that I collaborate with. They played the private contractors. They are all gun experts, which lets me focus on the choreography of the shootouts. I even had martial arts master John Ozuna choreograph and perform the hand to hand fight against Paré, so the action was brutal in this one.

What can you tell us about your overall directorial approach to your story at hand?

I usually make retro-style movies but in this case, the subject matter was too serious to make one of those. I just made this as realistic as possible. I had more good actors than usual on this one so directing was an absolute joy.

The male lead is played by veteran action star Michael Paré - so what was it like working with him, and how did you get him even?

Well this is actually my second time directing Michael Paré. He played the villain on one of my previous westerns. But yeah, we felt very fortunate to have him play the lead. When I met him on the western I said to him, you still look like a leading man. So I went to work on writing a leading role for him. This was it.

Do talk about Wilma Elles, and why exactly her?

Wilma is an amazing actress. She’s a joy to be around. I’ve worked with her before on Playing with Dolls: Havoc, and we’ve stayed friends ever since. She is an international star of movies and TV shows. We were lucky to have her in this movie. She delivered every line with distinction. A great match for Michael Paré.

A few words about the shoot as such, and the on-set atmosphere?

Oh we joke on every movie. We laugh and enjoy the filmmaking experience. I know the tone of this movie seems very somber but we laughed in between every take. I’m the only crew so the actors help out with everything. The actresses cooked and cleaned and the menfolk helped me set up the lights and move equipment. We’re all just a happy troop of filmmakers.

The $64-question of course, where can The Insurrection be seen?

Good question. Sadly, because of the attack on Hollywood subject matter, The Insurrection is being denied the normal wide release distribution that my movies usually get. I’ve had to put it up exclusively on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/theinsurrection - we hope Vimeo doesn’t take us down as well.

Anything you can tell us about audience and critical reception of The Insurrection?

So far it’s been great. One of my best reviewed movies to date.

Any future projects you'd like to share?

I’m about to do another Michael Paré movie. Happily.
