A Screambox exclusive:
Amir (Freddy Singh) shoulc be happy as can be, he has a girlfriend he
loves and who loves him bakck, Kim (Julie Abrahamsen), after a period of
unemployment his best friend Jonas (Viggo Solomon) has hired him - and now
100% has his back, as Amir isn*t really good at his work, he and Kim have
a house, have a car, so really there's nothing wrong in his life - only in
his mind, there is, his left leg from the knee down. This is all in his
imagination though, Now this is all in his imagination though,
there*s absolutely nothing wrong with his left leg, but still he wants to
get rid of it. Thing is, he doesn't dare to tell anyone about this,
fearing others would consider him crazy (and he's probably right), so his
desire starts eatinghim up from the inside - until he learns about Rikke
(Louise Waage Anda), a woman who pretends to be blind in public and wants
to one day lose her eyesight. Under the pretense of being a reporter, he
visits Rikke to learn more about her mindset, but she's quick to see
through his ruse and discover a like-minded soul. She even promises to
help him having a little accident that will lead to the amputation of his
left leg, and the two meet again and again and soon grow very close due to
their common desire. Thing is, for Amir, Rikke is nothing but a soulmate,
but Rikke wants more, she wants him to be her boyfriend, at whatever cost,
and Anmir soon learns she will go to almost any length to get what she
wants. At the same time though, Amir can't stop thinking about losing his
leg, Rikke or no Rikke ... This is quite a weird movie, one that
blends body horror and psycho thriller and packs it into an intentionally
weird character study. But what makes the film is its unjudgmental and
also very unapologetig approach to its not exactly middle-of-the-road
subject matter. This, coupled with strong performances by all involved and
a suitably subtle overall directorial effort with occasional violent
outbursts, makes this an unusual and also utterly fascinating piece of
weirdness. |
