Brisco (Bruce Campbell) has just found a lead to another of his
father's killers, Doc McCoy (Christopher Rich), who, wouldn't you know it,
is the ex husband of Brisco's on-again off-again girlfriend Dixie (Kelly
Rutherford), so for Brisco and Lord Bowler (Julius Carry) to get into his
gang, Dixie has to re-ignite the fire of old, which neither she nor Brisco
are too happy about. However, posing as outlaw Kansas Wily Stafford,
Brisco soon is in good standings with McCoy, and soon he learns about
McCoy's plan: To steal a long range cannon from the gouvernment to then
bomb a secret gouvernment facility where the orb is kept with sleeping gas
to steal the orb. Of course, Brisco and Bowler participate in the action,
but Brisco's found out by one of McCoy's gang (Obba Babatundé) and almost
doesn't make it, and then Brisco, Bowler and Dixie are all found out by
McCoy himself - but ultimately it all ends happily, and through the orb,
Brisco even meets his future self ... In a subplot, Brisco's employer Socrates Poole (Christian
Clemenson) is stalked by Rita (Andrea Parker), his secretary gone rogue
from several
episodes ago who, after having sprung jail, insists she's in love
with him.
A fun little western romp, perhaps nothing special but based on a story
that moves along swiftly, populated by suitably colourful characters
(including the leads) embodied by an able cast, with plenty of action but
also the series' trademark humour that often borders on self-irony. So in
all a very entertaining watch.
