A former girlfriend of Lord Bowler (Julius Carry), Lenore (JoNell
Kennedy), has asked him and Brisco County jr (Bruce Campbell) for help as
her business is pretty much bled dry by Roy Hondo's (Nicvolas Surovy)
protection money scheme. In town, Bowler and Brisco meet up with Sheriff
Aaron Viva (Gary Hudson), who's actually more than willing to arrest Hondo
- just that in legal terms, Hondo himself hasn't committed any crimes, he
has his henchmen for that. So Bowler and Brisco arrest one of his
henchmen, Gage (Hawthorne James), and even show enough foresight to hide
him away in mayor Sonny's (William Frankfather) place - but Sonny's
actually on Hondo's payroll, so it's not long before Hondo gets to kill
Gage just to eliminate witnesses. Bowler and Brisco come up with more
schemes to trick Hondo into actually comitting a crime, but they're
usually spoiled by young hothead Whip Morgan (Jeff Phillips), who has a
personal score to settle with Hondo, but lacks the skills to do so,
really. However, in the evitable final shoot-out, he proves to be Bowler
and Brisco's secret weapon when he irritates Hondo just long enough by
telling him he's actually his son to turn the tide for the good guys ... Now
this episode is hardly the re-invention of the western genre, actually the
plot seems to have been copied from any number of B-westerns, but its
light-footed approach really makes it work nevertheless, and Bruce
Campbell and Julius Carry once again show great chemistry and let their
comedic skills come into full swing. And to base the sheriff of the piece
on Elvis Presley and have him eventually "invent" sunglasses is
just funny as heck, all of this is making this one a pretty amusing watch.
