When Cy Hudgins (Forrest Lewis) brings his goat to town, it somehow
breaks loose, gets into the shack of a construction company presently
building an underpass nearby asnd eats up the company's dynamite - which
in the eyes of everybody makes this loaded goat the biggest threat in
town. Sheriff Andy (Andy Griffith) puts the goat into one of his police
station's cells, but a drunk local (Hal Smith) who's a regular at the
station lets himself into the cell and the goat escape, but not without
provoking it first. Finally, with the help of deputy Barney's (Don Knotts)
harmonica, the goat is lured out of town ... One of the funnier
epidosed of the Andy Griffith Show, this actually contains a
few genuine laqughs, but is also pretty childish in its innaccuracies
(dynamite does not go off without a fuse) and lacks in the narrative
department - towards the end of the story, the fate of the goat is simply
forgotten.
