Ash (Bruce Campbell) uses his newfoud fame as hometown hero to open his
own hardware story - but even the opening ceremony is cut short when he
runs across a woman (Katrina Hobbs) who claims to be his wife and tells
them their daughter Brandy (Arielle Carver-O'Neill) is in danger -
unsurprisingly so, as the Necronomicon has just been found in the woods
nearby. So Ash and his sidekick Pablo (Ray Santiago) rush to the local
school where Brandy has last been seen - and find her and her friend
Rachel (Ellie Gall), the latter of whom has already turned into a deadite.
Chaos ensues of course, but in the end, Ash and company manage to at least
save Brandy (not her mother though), and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) shows up
with a new guy, Dalton (Lindsay Farris), a member of the Knights of
Sumeria, who've been tracking Ruby Knowby (Lucy Lawless), who's up to no
good again ... Now as much as I liked the first two seasons of Ash
vs. Evil Dead, this first episode of season 3 feels like a little
bit of a let-down, in part of course because it picks up immediately after
the disappointing ending of last season's last
episode, but also because the story of this episode lacks any
immediacy, it feels like the characters are just going through the
motions, and even without the panache of earlier episodes. Likewise, the
addition of new series regulars feels a bit forced - all of which making
this certainly not a better episode of the series.
