So far, Case (Cuyle Carvin) has never minded the phonecalls of his ex
(Jackie Shea), a self destructive but cute alcoholic, in the middle of the
night, didn't mind to have to drag her home from some sub-standard dive,
wait all day for a call from the doctor whether her last bender has
wrecked her beyond healing or not, because hey, he's not a heartless guy -
and of course, there's always makeup sex. It's only when he has a nice
conversation with the waitress (Audrey Elizabeth Fafard) of his favourite
diner, who might be more than a bit interested in him, that he comes to
the realization that he has to move on ... Now without wanting
to assume too much, I think in all honesty we can all at least somehow
identify with the situation of at least one of the three lead characters
in this short (truth to be told, I think I had at least to an extent
similar experiences as all three of them) - and yet, while the film's
story might be "ripped from real life" (or whatever you want to
call it), a clever narrative buildup and competent directorial effort
still give the whole thing enough tension to keep to audience interested
throughout. Now add to this a very strong cast, and you naturally get
yourself a pretty good movie! Recommended!
