A cat burglar has stolen a priceless gold cat from a Gotham museum
leaving all kinds of feline clues- and of course Batman (Adam West) and
Robin (Burt Ward) hace no problem figuring out it was the Catwoman (Julie
Newmar). Now the statuette has an identical companion piece that's on
display in another museum - and it doesn't take the Dynamic Duo to figure
the Catwoman will strike there next - but they figure it anyhow, and at
the museum, they deliberately let Catwoman get away with the cat, which
they have sprayed with radioactive material beforehands to make it easily
traceable. Following Catwoman to her lair, they of course fall into her
trap and are almost devoured by tigers ... but ultimately they escape and
even get the two gold cats back. But to their greatest surprise, Catwoman
does not raid the museum they have expected her to - and then they find
out Catwoman actually stole the cats to get hold of a treasure map leading
to a vast pirate treasure. Of course, Batman and Robin can catch the
Catwoman red-handed ... but she as good as makes good her escape until she
jumps over a crevice but is torn down by the weight of the pirate treasure
she's carrying, and thus she falls into a bottomless pit ... It's
really Batman at its best: A far-fetched story full of
larger-than-life crimes and death traps, colourful villains, action that
will never keep Batman from lecturing Robin on road safety, over-the-top
performances going for mock-seriousness, and one-liners so silly they are
great. And add to this Julie Newmar as an extremely sexy Catwoman with
underlying S/M traits, and you've got yourself one nice episode (or two,
depends how you're counting).
