Not having seen her dad (Andrew Hunsicker) in quite a while, it was
really important to Jackie (Sophia Parola) to meet up with him again, and
at the very seaside they often visited when she was little, to sort things
out. But while starts as a peaceful afternoon on the beach soon sees old
tensions erupt again, as she feels overburdened by his expectations and is
full of reproach as he hasn't been the greatest of fathers after her
mum/his wife died. But underneath all that bickering, and despite all the
shortcomings they had shown in their relationship to one another over the
years, they still share a deep affection for each other - and that said,
there's more to the story than at first seems ... Now this is a
movie that will probably leave hardly an eye dry in pretty much any
audience - but it's not a simple tearjerker in the traditional sense that
just goes for emotion overload, as its intelligent script really touches
on a variety of issues and does make sociopolitical comments to make for a
rounded out narrative. And a subtle directorial effort and strong
performances really make this work. But do expect to shed a few tears ...
