Once upon a time, Coley (Steph Barkley) and Jericho (Sam Milman) were
popular influencers, but in the fast world of vlogging it just needs one
trend one fails to follow to fall out of relevancy - and that weighs
heavily, especially on Coley. So when she learns about a Bigfoot video
that went viral, she pretty much forces Jericho to accompany her to the
forest the video was shot to get their piece of Bigfoot fame. So armed
with the map to where Bigfoot was filmed, drawn by a five year old
(Kennady Guerra), Coley and Jericho assemble a team of Bigfoot hunters,
consisting of themselves, self-proclaimed Bigfoot expert Marty (Chris
Kleckner) - who though hasn't been to the woods for years, even if he runs
a Bigfoot souvenir shop next to them -, and their weapons-crazy guide
Triple T (Anthony Ma). However, Coley and Jericho just aren't made for the
outdoors, so after only a few hours of aimlessly wandering about, they
decide on a ruse and dress up Jericho in a cheap Bigfoot costume to chase
Coley around a bit. Unfortunately they haven't told Triple T about their
plans, so upon spotting Jericho in his costume, he shoots him dead - then,
seeing what he has done, he just takes off. This leaves Coley and Marty to
fend for themselves, and neither of them being equipped for a situation
like this, they basically get lost in the woods, and what's worse, Coley
strains her ankle. And that they actually do catch a glimpse of Bigfoot is
up to dumb luck more than anything else. Thing is, Jericho's dead body is
found before long, and everybody is quick to put the blame for his murder
on Coley. And soon the woods are swarming of people out for the reward
money on Coley's head, including Triple T and mysterious investigative
vlogger Freddie Huff (Lauren Howard Hayes) ... Even though Bigfoot
features prominently in the title, he hardly actually features in the
movie, which is much more of a satire on social media fame than a monster
movie. However, the satire is rolled into some light, irreverent, and
sometimes pretty darn funny comedy. But what makes this movie is that it
also has heart, and that it also has room for plenty of drama without
destroying the light-footedness of the movie. And a cast of colourful
characters played by a very able cast of actors really help keeping things
rolling at a steady pace, making this a very entertaining experience.
