When nightshift medic Jack (Jason Mewes) finds a girl, Danika (Erica
Cox), covered in blood in the dumpster, it's love at first sight, and he
takes her home and nurses her back to health, and even though she clearly
shows withdrawal symptoms, he believes her when she claims she hasn't been
taking any drugs. Her state however worsens from day to day ... until
Jack's ex (Jordan Madley) stops by, the two women get in a fight, and
Danika bites her to death, sucking her blood. So Jack finds out Danika is
a vampire - and she didn't even know it herself until now. Thing is, she
needs fresh blood, and human blood at that, and blood from the bloodbank
simply won't do. Jack tries to feed her some of his, but he simply hasn't
got enough in himself to satisfy her hunger ... so almost against his will
he starts roaming the streets at night to bring home lowlifes and junkies
to feed to Danika. When she one night brings home a prostitute (Amy Lynn
Grover) to feed on her while having sex with Jack, that's almost too much
for him. Jack's personal problem start to have an effect on his work, so
his best friend and colleague Roger (Richard Fitzpatrick) decides to have
a look at Jack's girlfriend for himself ... and when Jack finds Danika trying to
kill Roger, which he can prevent only just, he decides it's too much, and
he and Roger decide to put a stake through her heart ... and they are
actually successful, too, but in the preceeding struggle, Jack got bitten
(and turned into a vampire of course), and now Roger promises Jack to keep him
alive no matter what ... In case you couldn't guess it from my
synopsis, Bitten is a vampire comedy, though not of the
a-laugh-a-minute kind but using a subtler approach, an approach that
allows the movie to also show dark and atmospheric scenes and a bit of
gore every now and again. This of course makes the film a pretty ok horror
comedy, but a certain directorial indifference towards its macabre source
material and a certain shallowness on plot-level keep this from becoming a
genre classic. Sill, it's at least entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
