A vampire named Boya (Gordon Currie of Left Behind, Tribulation
Force, World At War, Outlaws Of Missouri, Highwayman, etc...) awakens after a
long, how should we say, nap, to walk the streets of Toronto and discover a
completely different world than the one he used to know. He encounters
gangsters, a waitress in an all night diner for which he finds an attraction and
other interesting obstacles in the course of the movie. The aforenoted diner is
a place where he comes to frequent, hence the title of Blood & Donuts.
In the end, Boya dies, but not before taking a host of the bad guys with him
and establishing himself as the good guy, just because those around him are so
repulsive.
The only thing really hard to take for Currie fans who may be familiar with
him only as the role of suave Nicolai in the Left Behind series, is his voice
pattern and this really frightful hairdo which is more scary than some parts of
the plot.
Produced in Toronto & hard to find in other parts of the world, the movie nonetheles has an uncanny
cult status among horror fans.
David Cronenberg , one of Toronto's horror maestros, has a cameo in this as
well.
