In psychology class, friends Hannah (Arianna Harris), Ben ((Houston
Buckley), Brandon (Leonard Peterson III), Kimberly (Chloe Lutz), Justin
(Herb White III) and Haley (Ka'ssee Rhe'anne), to try and solve a recent
killing spree at a local high school, a case the police haven't cracked up
to now. Sure, their teacher Mr. Reynolds (Casey Miracle) doesn't seriously
expect them to solve the case, just teach them how to think. And yet
Hannah takes the assignment very seriously, as she one day wants to be a
homicide detecctive, just like her foster mum (Holly Anspaugh). The others
are all less interested, Kimberly takes hit an excuse to make out with her
boyfriend Justin while Ben and Brandon constantly fight over Hannah's
attentiion since they're both in love tih her. Hannah leans more towards
Ben, but he's a loner with a dark secret that has something to do with his
deceased mother (Lisa Wilcox). Then on prom night, Justin, Kimberly and
Mr. Reynolds are all killed with the same hunting knife as the victims at
that other school, so the killer might be behind our young detectives now,
and suddenly Ben becomes a prime suspect. Only Hannah believes in his
innocence, but can even she be sure ... A nice blend of slasher and
whodunnit, a film that can be very violent at times but really puts its
focus more on character development, to a point that it does get a little
wordy every now and again. But in all, this is a well-constructed film
with some well-crafted setpieces - especially Kimberly's kill comes to
mind -, carried by a swift directorial effort and a solid cast. Cool genre
entertainment for sure.
