Officer Hansen (Krista Hedina) has become a police woman for all the right reasons, she wants to be on the front and make this world a better place - but due to her boss's (Michael Paré) latent sexism, she's pretty much reduced to handling the phones and making coffee at the precinct. That is, until she precinct is short-staffed and an assisting officer for a prisoner transfer to an off-shore prison island is needed. Now even though the prisoner that needs transfering, Bennet (David Kurzhal) is a mafia hitman with many a lkill to his name, the job sounds fairly routine - until it turns out that the prisoners on the island have overthrown the guards and run the island now.  And after they have killed all the other accompanying officers, they're on the hunt for Hansen, as they*re in desperate need of women to rape. Now Hansen is courageous as they come, but certainly no match for a horde of horny criminals - and suddenly all she has to falll back on is Bennet, who might be brutal as they come,, but he also has a heart of gold. And somehow they almost make it off the island when Hansen learns about a second woman, nurse Barbara (Mia Sydney), who has fallen into the hands of the convicts and thus needs saving - and Hansen is determined to save her, with or without Bennet ...

Now Bloodstorm isn't exactly a movie that re-invents the wheel - in fact, it has earmarks of 80s and 90s macho action cinema all over it -, but it's a film that does what it has set out to do very well, to deliver a fast moving action piece with fights, chases and shoot-outs pretty much non-stop, and Rene Perez just knows how to film action in an exctiting way, as he has proven time and again in the past, and the stunt work's pretty much first rate in this one, too. So while this film might not hold anything essentially new, ,it sure packs a puch and then some.
