Ben Cartwright (Lorne Greene), hoss (Dan Blocker) and little joe
(Michael Landon) have driven their herd of cattle to San Francisco and
looking forward to a night on the town - when they learn that two of their
farmhands (Robert Nichols, O.Z. Whitehead) have gone missing and are
suspected to have been shanghaied. Hoss and Little Joe pick up
investigations immediately, but go about it all wrong, drawing attention
to them, while father Ben proceeds with subtlety. Good thing is, Ben finds
his farmhands, bad thing is, he has fallen into the hands of white slaver
Shanghai Pete (David White) as well. After htat, he trusts the wrong woman
(Kathleen Crowley) and eventually ends up a sailor on a boat to China.
Fortunately though, Hoss and Little Joe have picked up his trail in time,
clobber their way through half of San Francisco to come to his rescue, and
throw half of the crew of the ship he's on overboard just to get him back
ashore. Nothing great, but one of the better episodes of Bonanza,
as the San Francisco settings add some colours to the proceedings, and a
face off Dan Blocker versus horror icon Tor Johnson is at least worth your
while - even if the sequence is way too brief.
