Animal trapper Frank Buck is on an expedition to the Malayan jungle to
catch some rare animals and bring 'em back alive (hence the title)
to the USA, and while trapping a black leopard, a python, a baby elephant,
a honey bear, an orangutan and all kinds of other animals, Frank and crew
also witness various fights among the jungle animals, including tiger
versus leopard, tiger versus crocodile, crocodile versus python, and - the
highlight - tiger versus python. The whole film is built around Buck's
desperate attempts to catch a tiger, and in the end he succeeds in that as
well. Marketed as a wildlife documentary, this film should be
less as a collection of facts as such and more as a jungle adventure built
around the real-life exploits of famed animal trapper Frank Buck that very
openly flirts with sensationalism in all the fight scenes it features -
and some fight scenes are really spectacular, and well-filmed as well. So
if you are into violence among animals, you will be well
entertained in this one, if that's not your cup of tea though, don't watch
Bring 'em Back Alive, there really isn't any other reason to.
