Arrow's (Daniel Lee) mum (Jennifer Li) thinks he's delusional enough to
warrant regular visits to a psychatrist (Carrie Plumley), and yet his best
friends, Delilah (Yasmine Alayan), Ivy (Emily Krzemienski) and Dax (Trent
Mason), tease him for not even having enough imagination to tell a simple
story - about a teenaged guy whose friends all die horrible deaths. The
next day Delilah has gone missing, and while Ivy and Dax are worried sick,
Arrow is more interested in finishing his story - much to the annoyance of
Dax ... and then he's gone. Arrow's gentleman enough to walk Ivy home. She
also has a knife for protection, which she shows Arrow and ... Sprung
from the mind of a 14 year old, this is actually a pretty unsettling and
downright creepy drama, inasmuch as it feels very real and affords lots of
space but also compassion to its troubled central character Arrow, who's
shown as more than just a bad guy here. And the direction is suitably
subtle, which actually adds to the creepiness of the story, as does the
down-to-earth acting by all involved.
