All Kathy (Sandra Elaine) and John (Todd Stroik) wanted to do was having a
lovely stroll through mother nature before getting drunk on mimosas back
at their hotel. And they're well aware that the stretch of forest they
have chosen is said to have been the scene of some brutal killings - but
that sounds like little more than the stuff of urban legends - and even if
not, these murders have all happened in the past, so why worry? Why
indeed, it's not as if there was a masked psycho with a chainsaw (Andrew
Pierson) right around the corner ...
Made basically as a proof of concept for a feature film of the same name
to come, this shortstnds well enough on its own feet as a slasher
miniature that might not have much to offer in terms of plottwists or
surprise reveals, but brings its story and backstory across in an economic
fashion, has its relatable characters (even if they ll end up as cannon
fodder), its chases and jump scares, suspense and bloody dismemberment.
Maybe not the re-invention of the wheel, there's still plenty for the
dedicated horror fan to like.
